Proper preparation helps pilgrims experience this journey with greater peace of mind and focus.

Understanding the Rituals of Umrah

The first step is to enter the state of Ihram and make the intention to perform Umrah. The pilgrim thus prepares to begin their spiritual journey in a state of devotion and reflection.

Tawaf is one of the main rituals of Umrah. It consists of performing seven circuits around the Kaaba, at the heart of the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

After Tawaf, the pilgrim performs Sa’i between the hills of Safa and Marwa. This journey recalls the story of Hajar and her search for water for her son Ismail.

Umrah concludes with cutting or shortening the hair. This step marks the completion of the rituals and the end of the state of Ihram.
